Comment from E. Lindsey: My husband Johnny and I had a journal that we both wrote in. He would write to me and I would write back. Sometimes it was funny or cute (a badly rhymed poem) but often it was the heart felt things that are sometimes hard to put into words. It also helped to open discussions on hard topics. We could think out what we wanted to really say, not just blurt out something in the heat of the moment. It also forced each of us to listen. When you are talking, both are thinking of what they want to say next not really listening. But to read gave us time to take it in, think it over and then respond. Often it lead to wonderful conversations and a better understanding of each other.
